In an effort to use "snow" as a tourist resource to attract tourists from Asia, the "1st Snowball Fight Asia Cup" (sponsored by JTB and Minakami Town Tourism Association) was held over two days at the Minakami Kogen Hotel 200. Eight teams of approximately 80 people from various Asian countries and regions participated in the first tournament, and the Shanghai team won. The heated battle, in which the participants enjoyed the natural powder snow, was widely covered in various media. The event is scheduled to be held again next year.
